Main Ingredients
  • 4 slices Bread (white or whole wheat)
  • 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 large Tomato (finely chopped)
  • 1 Green Chilli (slit or chopped)
  • 1 piece Ginger (finely chopped)
  • 1 sprig Curry Leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Roasted Peanuts
  • 2 tablespoons Coriander Leaves (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
Tempering & Spices
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • ½ teaspoon Urad Dal (split black gram)
  • ¼ teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 tablespoons Water

Cooking Instructions

In a pan toast the bread till it is brown and crispy. Remove from the heat and cut the bread into cubes.

In another pan heat oil, add mustard seeds, urad dal. Once it starts to splutter add asafoetida, chopped ginger, green chilli and curry leaves.

Add one finely chopped onion and saute it until it turns golden brown.

Add one finely chopped tomato and cook until it turns mushy.

Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, lemon juice and roasted peanuts.

Add 4 tbsp of water and cook until the mixture thickens.

Add the toasted and chopped bread cubes.

Combine everything together for 2 mins, add the coriander leaves and remove from heat. Serve hot!
